Applying layers of india ink onto lightweight washi paper creates the ripple effects seen in the composition. This sculptural treatment gives the work physicality. Laying graphite down on the back side of the semi-transparent paper creates a subtle grey to white fade viewable on the front surface, which further develops the sense of depth.
