The Space Between
The Space Between is made from connecting a bent concave and convex wooden surface. The married forms result in and expose the unseen space between them. At eye level, this creates an effect that focuses vision into the “event horizon” of the sculpture— the point where light cannot penetrate to the sculpture’s interior. The longer one stares, the more vision centers. It reminds me of a white misty midday afternoon on the Pacific Ocean and the feeling of looking into that faint grey horizon line that dissipates into nothingness. It is a feeling of connection and wonderment.
